Robert Vernon Moore, 81, of Pocahontas, died Saturday morning, April 29, 2006 at Magnolia Hospital in Corinth, Miss.
The husband of Ola Bea Scarborough Moore, who survives, he retired in 1982 as manager of Exxon Car Care Center in Memphis. He was born September 5, 1924 in Obion County, son of the late Ewell Bennett Moore and Cora Espey Moore. He lived in Memphis from 1950 to 1982 and has been in Hardeman County for 24 years. Mr. Moore served in the U. S. Navy during WWII, receiving a President’s Citation, and was an avid coon hunter.
Services were 2:00 PM Monday, May 1, 2006 at Shackelford’s Middleton chapel with Jack Henry, Jr. and Robert Coomer officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery near Pocahontas.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Teresa Coomer and her husband, Mark, of Memphis, Donna McGraw and her husband, Monty, of Houston, Tex., and Judy Cooksey of Pocahontas; two sisters, Jeannie Neal of Corinth, Miss. and Margie Smith of Troy; four grandchildren, Robert and Andrea Coomer, Kirk Shaffer and Michelle Bausch and two great-grandchildren, Candi and Sean Shaffer.
