Robert B. Eldridge, 75, of Middleton, died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at his home.
The husband of Nancy C. Taylor Eldridge, who survives, he was a retired Memphis City Fireman after 30 years of service with Station 33. Mr. Eldridge was born March 19, 1931 in Dyer, Tenn., son of the late Curtis and Willie Kate Carrigan Eldridge and lived in Memphis for 23 years before making his home in Middleton in 1979. He served in the U. S Army with the Rangers as a Sergeant in the Tank Division, was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed raising rabbits. Mr. Eldridge was a member of County Line Baptist Church near Chalybeate, Miss. for nine years where he was also an RA leader, song leader and former deacon.
Services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at County Line Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Taylor, Ronnie Sells and Dr. David Skinner officiating. Burial was in County Line Cemetery near Chalybeate.
In addition to his wife, whom he married September 1, 1951, survivors include one daughter, Nancy Patrice Eldridge Blackburn of Williston; three sons, Donald Robert Eldridge of Rosemark, Richard B. Eldridge of Brighton and Phillip Everett Eldridge of Hickory Withe; one sister, Mildred Juanita Eldridge Cole of Memphis and ten grandchildren, Rebecca Marie, Tessa Leigh and Phillip Justin Eldridge, Donald Mathew Blackburn, Brenton Robert Etheridge, Joseph Patrick and Robert Calvin Blackburn and Jessica Kaye, Brandon Scott and Kaitlyn Amanda Eldridge.
