Robert Franklin Collins was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on September 6, 1933, the son of the late Charlie Franklin and Rosa Lucille Prater Collins. On March 15, 1953, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Kelley, who preceded him in death on December 17, 2016. Mr. Collins departed this life on February 15, 2018, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 9 days.
Mr. Collins honorably served his country in the United States Army from January 10, 1955 to January 9, 1957. He was a member of Saltillo Church of Christ and worked for H.I.S. Manufacturing in Saltillo, Tennessee for 35 years. Working at church, joking with people, and woodworking were just a few things he enjoyed. He loved being around children, especially at church.
Mr. Collins is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Ross and husband David of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; son, Dale Collins and wife Susan of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Lois Bridges of Smyrna, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jennifer Channell and husband David of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, Robert "Robby" Ross of Gainesville, Texas, and Zachary Collins and wife Shelbie of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Ashley Channell and Kailee Channell of Morris Chapel, Tennessee and Aubrey Dewitt of Gainesville, Texas.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by an infant son and his siblings, Helen Alexander, Nell Pryor, and Kenneth Collins.
