Robert Earl Brown was born October 2, 1932, in Michie, TN, the son of the late James Earl and Lydia Tedford Brown. He went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2021 at the age of 89 years, 2 months, 9 days. He attended Michie School and later became a licensed electrician; he was a hard worker and a perfectionist in everything he did. He took great pride in the Christmas lighting displays he did each year for the community to enjoy; people would come from miles around every year to see them. Mr. Brown loved to mow and spend time working in his shop. He married the love of his life, Joyce Whitaker Brown, on June 30, 1951. Together they owned and operated Selmer Decorative Center for 25 years.
Robert and Joyce were blessed with 70 years of marriage. Their union blessed them further with five children and in-laws: Billy (Denise) Brown, Debra (Roy) Haggard, Belinda (Avon) Shelton, Brian (Laura) Brown, and Tim (Tina) Brown; 11 grandchildren: Scott (Elana) Shelton, Ross (Courtney) Shelton, Will (Megan) Shelton, Eric Brown, Erin (Nathaniel) Root, Steven (Mallory) Brown, Michael (Darcie) Brown, Chase (Nikki) Brown, Ashley (Max) Sanford, Christian Brown and Austin Brown; 17 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Bailee, Carlee, Konner, Kolby, Karsyn, Colton, Kate, and Kora Shelton, Abby Cate, Wade, and Andi Brown, Bryce Sanford, Caroline Erickson, Blakely, Sam, and Ayla Brown, and a baby boy due in February. Mr. Brown was also blessed with many nephews, nieces, and friends, as well as his surviving brother-in-law, Johnny Doles.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers-in-law: Juanita (Woodrow) Burks, Geneva (Clifford) Moore, Dorothy (Charles) Burks, Patricia (Alton) Dickerson, and Rebecca Doles; an infant brother, Billy Neal; and three brothers-in-law and their spouses: J. C. (Lois) Whitaker, Charles (Geneva) Whitaker, and Lowell (Janet) Whitaker.
The family wishes to say a heartfelt thank you to his wonderful caregivers who were so faithful and good to him over the past eight years.
