Robert Lee Bearden

Robert Lee Bearden was born November 1, 1924 in Stantonville, TN, the son of the late James Daniel and Ethma Lee Pettigrew Bearden. He was united in marriage to Thelma Mae Reddell on October 14, 1944. Mrs. Bearden preceded him in death on July 2, 2010. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer, TN and member of the Gideons International. He served our country during WW II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Robert taught for 36 years in McNairy Schools and 6 years of that he was the Vocational Director for McNairy County. He was an active member of the McNairy County Retired Teachers. Robert also served on the McNairy County Elections Commission for over 20 years. Mr. Bearden departed this life on July 15, 2016 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 91 Years, 8 Months, 14 Days.

He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Bates and husband Dr. Larry Bates; two grandchildren, Chuck Bates and wife Melissa of Middleton, TN, Bob Bates and wife Kinsey of Germantown, TN; two great grandchildren, Hayley and Hunter Bates; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Bearden was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Bearden.
