Robert Glenn Barnes, Jr.



was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 28, 1936 the son of the late Robert Glenn, Sr. and Daisy Nevadah Stewart Barnes.



On June 28, 1970 he was united in marriage to Johnnie Hulin, who survives.



Mr. Barnes worked for L.E. Meyers as an electrician, he had also worked TVA for many years. He was a Volunteer Fireman; he helped build the Saturn 5 rocket; a radiation lab in Livermore, California; a radio station in Corinth, Mississippi; served in the Army Special Forces and the Air Force Reserves, and worked on the recording of "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He was a member of the Union #852,Counce, Tennessee Water Board, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Lions' Club where he had also served as President. He enjoyed traveling and at one time or another he had lived in all 48 continental states; he especially liked the west coast, San Francisco Bay area. He loved his grandchildren.



Mr. Barnes departed this life on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 17 days.



In addition to his wife, Johnnie, Mr. Barnes is survived by a daughter, Nicole Skelton and husband Covin of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a son, Bart Barnes and wife Atoyia of Adamsville, Tennessee; a brother, Granville Barnes of Counce, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, Hayse Barnes and Seth Skelton.
