Rita Joyce Barnhill

Rita Joyce Barnhill was born on January 31, 1943 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Arnold and Virginia Covington Austin.

On June 9, 1961, she was united in marriage to Jerry W. Barnhill, who preceded his wife in death on March 6, 2014.

Mrs. Barnhill was a member of Barnhill United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She enjoyed cooking, swimming, and arranging flowers. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Rita Joyce Barnhill departed this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Bells, Tennessee at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

She is survived by her sons, Greg Barnhill and his wife Angelia of Savannah, Tennessee and Ricky Barnhill and his wife Carin of Bells, Tennessee; sisters, Judy Bridges and her husband Carl of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee and Terry Griswell and her husband Gary of Indiana; brother, Tommy Austin and his wife Brenda of Enville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Will Barnhill and his wife Morgan, Wes Barnhill, and Wade Barnhill; step grandchildren, Daron Frazier and Derrick Frazier and his wife Claire; step great granddaughter, Mia Kate Frazier; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rita was preceded in death by her sisters, Pattie Adams and Mackie Welch.
