Risë Jo McCalip Courter

Risë Jo McCalip Courter, 67, of Guys, TN, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at her home.

Risë Jo Courter was born January 7, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She was the daughter of the late Betty and Frank McCalip.  She graduated from Middleton High School in 1974.  She went to school for drafting at Whiteville Vo-Tech and later designed elevators at Dover/ThyssenKrupp Elevators.

Mrs. Courter was a devoted wife to her husband, Frank, for 37 years after they met at their place of employment.  Frank was her caregiver for many years and took care of all her needs.  He was able to care for her in their home until she passed.

She loved music and going to concerts, she loved to cross stitch, and she and her husband liked to take trips.  She acquired a love for cooking.

Mrs. Courter was a member of United Methodist Church in Finger, TN which she attended with her dear mother.  This was their special time together.

Mrs. Courter departed from life on June 10, 2023, in her home with her husband by her side.  She is survived by her husband, Frank and her only daughter, Crystal Epperson (Stacy) of Greenbrier, AR.  She also has three brothers, Ross McCalip (Carolyn) of B aton Rouge, LA, Winston McCalip of Malibu, CA and Vince McCalip (Wanda) of Grand Junction, and one sister, Rhonda Huber (Eric) of Southaven, MS.

Risë will be at Shackelford Funeral Home in Middleton and her brother, Vince, will be officiating the ceremony and then will be laid to rest at McCalip’s Chapel in Hornsby, TN.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
