Riley Wayne Gunter departed this life on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the age of 73 years and 20 days. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 6, 1943, the son of Agnes Riley Gunter and the late Claude Wayne Gunter.
Riley had worked for the Illinois Central Railroad as a Chief Clerk and previously he had worked for Greyhound Bus Line. He was an avid Civil War collector, a member of Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and the author of Cannon Foundries. Riley was also a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Agnes Gunter of Savannah, Tennessee; brother, Jerry Gunter of Savannah, Tennessee; chosen son, Dennis "Bert" Johnston and wife, Michelle of Florence, Alabama; chosen grandchildren, Jesse Johnston and Jacob Johnston.
