Richard Potter (lovingly known as Poncho) departed this life on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 26 days. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of the late Louis E. and Anna M. Risinger Potter.
Richard was a mechanic, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, crafts, gardening, and canning.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Amy Haynes and her husband Allen of Adamsville, Tennessee, Aron Byerly and his wife Tonya of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Adam Byerly and his wife Amy of Oak Harbor, Washington; grandchildren, Nathan, Mark, Melissa, Jacob, Anna, Christina, Aron James, Allysa, Conner, Christopher, Ashley, and Tiffany; great grandchildren, Maelee, Derrick, Brodie, Owen, Loralei, Ricky Jr., Malachi, Kane, KJ, Quincey, Levi, Solomon, Savannah, Olivia, and Madeline; brothers, Jim Potter of Maquoketa, Iowa, Mike Potter of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Bill Potter of Nome, Alaska; and sisters, Barb Merrick of Maquoketa, Iowa, Nancy Redmon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Carol Norville of Venice, Florida.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Saundra Potter; sister, Delores Potter; and brother, Gary Potter.
