RICHARD “PEE WEE” MILLS
Henderson, TN: Mr. Richard Garland Mills, age 87 passed away Tuesday evening at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Jackson, TN, July 29, 1935, son of the late Garland and Maudie Ray Bawcum Mills.
He married Jo Ann Warner on May 14, 1960, and they were married 43 years when she passed away in 2003. They made their home in Henderson.
He joined the US Army after high school and served as a medic in Germany. He then served in the TN Army National Guard for many years retiring in 1992 as Staff Sergeant.
He worked as a welder and a die grinder at Grinnell then later at Anvil in Henderson.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, watching westerns and wrestling.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Mitchell (Bill) and Penny Green (Gary) both of Henderson, TN; eight grandchildren, David Goff (Lacy), Telisa Malone (Jeremy), Shannon Gower (Daniel), Dakota Gower, Michael Mills (Ashley), Rebecca Lamb (Stephen), Kendra Mills, and Katlyn Parchman; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sons, Johnny Mills and Kenneth Mills.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 29th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at East Main 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM service time Saturday.
