RICHARD KIRBY
Henderson, TN: Richard Ramsey Kirby, age 93, passed away January 3, 2023, at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born February 24, 1929, in Brownsville, TN the son of the late Randall and Hazel Ramsey Kirby.
He grew up in Brownsville and graduated from Haywood High School.
He then attended Tennessee Tech University and earned a B.S. Degree in Agriculture.
He married Joyce Worrell on August 23, 1953. They made their home in Brownsville a short time and moved to Henderson in 1955.
Richard worked as a soil conservationist in Henderson for forty-two years, retiring in 1997.
He enjoyed golfing, chatting and drinking coffee every morning at Jacks, he enjoyed getting his lunch from the sweet ladies in the Deli at Piggly Wiggly, visiting his friends at Centennial Bank then supper at Chow Wagon.
He was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Kirby is survived by two daughters, Kathy Emerson (Jerry) of Henderson and Kim Stewart (Mark) of Collierville; five grandchildren, John (Leslie) Stewart, Drew Fiancée Jessica) Stewart, Becky (Clint) Hutcherson, Brad (Jesica) Emerson and Brandon (Lauren) Emerson; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Billy Kirby (Martha) of Brownsville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce Louise Worrell Kirby on June 15, 2011 and a brother, Winston Kirby.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 6th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday.
