He was born and reared in Chester County, the Wilson School Community, the son of the late Wayne Calvin and Ethel Emerson Harris. He graduated Chester County High School in 1959 and in 1966 was married to Jeri Davis. They made their home on the Harris family farm where he farmed all his life. He served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1964 until 1968. He served many years on the Board of Directors of the Chester County Farm Bureau and also served on the A.S.C.S. Committee in Chester County. He attended Old Friendship Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Jeri Davis Harris of Henderson; three sons Rick Harris and wife Kristin of Jackson, Rusty Harris and Jeff Harris both of Henderson; two daughters Susan Thompson and husband Scott of Henderson and Kelly Lawson of Henderson; four grandchildren Ashley Thompson, Cody Harris, Isaiah Lawson and Emma Lawson; and also two brothers Billy Wayne Harris and Benny Joe Harris both of Henderson; and a sister Dorcie Mae Armour of Henderson.
