Rex H. Mathis

Rex H. Mathis of Waynesboro, TN was born January 17, 1940 in Waynesboro, TN, the son of the late James Herbert and Inez L. Skelton Mathis. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Belsha on October 31, 1959. Mr. Mathis was a retired truck driver with the Wayne County Highway Department and a farmer.

Mr. Mathis departed this life on September 24, 2019 in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 8 Months, 7 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae (Belsha) Mathis of Waynesboro, TN; two daughters, Pamela L. Mathis of Waynesboro, TN and Shelia Daniel and husband, Heath of Collinwood, TN; 4 Grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brier, Braylee and Hannah and 1 Great-Grandchild, Mae Bri; two brothers, Bobby Lee Mathis and wife, Connie of Waynesboro, TN and Gary Wayne Mathis of Lawrenceburg, TN; his step-mother, Clara Mathis of Waynesboro, TN and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by two brothers, James Fay Mathis and Elvis Taylor Mathis.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the North Highland Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family. Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 11 :00 am to 12:30 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, TN.

Pallbearers will be Robert Mathis, Brier Daniel, Thomas Davis, Donovan Denton, Zack Mathis and Kyle Mathis.
