Rev. Fred L. Clifft, age 65 of Bolivar, passed from this life Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.He was born August 27, 1943 in Hardeman County to the late Ermon and Carrie Lavern Long Clifft. He married Linda Fay Boyd, who survives, August 12, 1963 and worked as a paint contractor. He also served as a Pastor for about 30 years, having worked with Shady Grove Baptist Church, New Friendship Baptist Church, Grace Baptist in Jackson and Ebenezer Baptist. He had been serving as the Pastor at New Bethel Baptist Church since February. He loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, feeding many people from his garden and spending time with his grandchildren.In addition to his wife, he leaves as survivors a son, Freddie Clifft of Somerville; four grandchildren, Jonathan Green, Courtni Ray Clifft, Taylor Clifft, and Caleb Clifft; and four brothers, Muesel Clifft of Whiteville, Robert Clifft of Bolivar, Richard Clifft of Bolivar and Jerry Clifft of Bolivar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Clifft; three sisters, Frances Bomar, Peggy Pattat and Dorothy Crump; and two brothers, Jack Clifft and James Clifft.
