Randy Freeman, 72, of Whiteville, passed from this life Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
The husband of Mary Alice Daniel Freeman, who survives, he was a truck driver and had owned his own companies, including New Castle Trucking, Cotton Link Transportation and N&D Trucking. He was born Saturday, May 21, 1949, in Whiteville, son of the late James Edward Freeman and Flossie Jeanette Parks Freeman and lived all of his life in Whiteville. A 1967 graduate of Whiteville High School, he married Mary Alice Daniel on September 21, 1973, and together they enjoyed their life, raising their children. He served in the National Guard and was a 'workaholic', spending his 'off' time restoring old classic cars, drag racing, farming and hauling grain. He loved to fish, especially alongside his grandchildren, with whom he dearly loved spending time. Mr. Freeman was a member and former deacon at Whiteville First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Nicole Freeman Plakon (Bob) of Oakland; a son, Daniel Freeman (Chelsea) of Covington; a sister, Peggy Campbell of Whiteville; six grandchildren with one 'on the way', Walker, Wrenley and Wrenna Freeman, Allysa, Zachary and Emily Plakon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, whom he helped to care for, Lula Gilchrist. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Whiteville First Baptist Church.
