He was born in Pike County, KY, the son of Eula Hale Maynard Dillon and the late Ralph Arthur Maynard. He grew up in Martin County, KY and graduated from Warfield High School in 1963 and attended Marshall University. He was married to Libby Meade in 1965. They made their home in Inez, KY. He worked as a Director of Purchasing for Martika Coal Company for thirty one years. They moved to Henderson in 2004 and he worked for Freed-Hardeman University as Director of Purchasing. He had been a member of the Kiwanis Club in Inez and was an avid antique car show enthusiast and was particularly interested in Ford Mustangs. He had served ten years as an Elder at the Inez Church of Christ, prior to moving to Henderson. He was a member of the Estes Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Libby Maynard of Henderson; a son Bryan Maynard and wife Mitzi of Franklin, TN; a daughter Cammy Winslow and husband Rusty of Jackson; his mother Eula Hale Maynard Dillon of Louisa, KY; four grandchildren Jake, Marlee and Khaki Maynard of Franklin, TN and Chase Edward Winslow of Jackson; and a sister Mary Katherine Maynard Lowe of Louisa, KY.
