Ralph W. Horton of Waynesboro, TN was born November 13, 1938 in Collinwood, TN, the son of the late Charlie Hobart and Naomi Dixon Horton. He was united in marriage to the former Jean Morrison on July 2, 1960.
Mr. Horton was a retired supervisor, having worked for 42 years at Murray Ohio Mfg Co in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was a member of the Green River Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee and had served in the Tennessee National Guard.
Mr. Horton departed this life on Sunday, March 7, 2021 in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 3 Months, 22 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Morrison Horton of Waynesboro, TN; a son, Lynn Horton and wife, Lisa of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Julie Horton Roberson and husband, Donnie of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Charlie Horton and wife, Taylor of Selmer, TN; Caleb Roberson and wife, Lauren of Chattanooga, TN and Hailey Horton of Nashville, TN; a great-granddaughter, Ruby Horton; brothers, Nathaniel Horton of Collinwood, TN, Tommy Horton of New Hope, AL, Billy Horton of Collinwood, TN and Robert Horton of Lawrenceburg, TN; sisters, Jeanette Calton of Collinwood, TN, Delia Kelley of Clifton, TN, Sheila Vencion of Collinwood, TN, Doris Brewer of Iron City, TN and Joyce Ray of Athens, AL and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Horton was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Horton and a sister, Charlene Hollis.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Cal Hampton and Kerry Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Shields Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Wednesday, March 10 2021 from 11:30 am to service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Gobbell, Derrick Gobbell, Doug Gobbell, Christopher Lynch, Chad Pyle and John Lynch with honorary pallbearers being Carl Fred Daniel, Allen Barnett and Bill Willoughby.
