Rachel Odessa Bradley Byrd, age 83, of Waynesboro, Tennessee passed away July 3, 2006 at Wayne Medical Center. She was born April 29, 1923 to Homer Floyd and Beula Joe Morgan Bradley. She was a native of Wayne County, Tennessee and a member of County Line Church of Christ. She and her late husband Charlie L. Byrd owned and operated Natchez Trace Grocery Store for many years.
Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lando Byrd, father, Homer Floyd Bradley, Sr., mother, Beulah Joe Morgan Bradley Shults, her step father, James Shults, step mother, Coranne Brown Bradley, three brothers, Raphael Bradley, Orvel Bradley, and Bernie Bradley, step brother, Earl Shults, and a grandson, Alexander Grant Byrd.
She is survived by sons, Charlie Edgar Byrd and wife Brenda of Waynesboro; Saundra Grinder and her husband Brenton, Sr. of Collinwood; Bruce Byrd of Champagne, IL; daughter in law, Manon Byrd of Henderson, KY; Brenda Leighton and husband Terry of Lawrenceburg; Ricky Byrd and wife Loretta of Mt. Pleasant; six sisters and two brothers, Texie Ray of Peoria, IL, Homer Floyd (Junior) Bradley of Waynesboro, Ailene Fisher, Jettie Bradley, Phoebe Ray, Dexter Sides, Shirley Shults, Nora Faye Searle all of Lawrenceburg; half sister and two half brothers, Homer Lee Bradley of Lawrenceburg, J.D. Bradley of Ethridge, and Janie Anthony of White, GA;
Three step sisters and four step brothers, Lola Fincher of Leoma, Walter Shults of Hettick, IL, Flora Fleeman of Leoma, Marie Kelley, Paul Shults, Charlie Shults, and Jim (Junior) Shults all of Lawrenceburg;
Eight grandchildren, Dawn Powell and husband Chris, Daphne Woodside and husband Eddie, Brenton Grinder, Jr and wife Susan, Patrick Grinder, Josh Leighton, Jesika Byrd, Will Byrd, and Kate Byrd. They called her GRANNY.
Seven great grandchildren, Ian and Reagan Powell, Tyler, Alex, and Charli Elizabeth Woodside, Brenna and Caroline Grinder. They called her BIG GRANNY.
