Pop Brooks

POP BROOKSwas born in Glenville, Georgia on July 8, 1920 the son of the late Charles and Mary Smith Brooks. On April 15, 1940 he was united in marriage to Juanita Mincey who preceded her husband in death on September 16, 1997.Mr. Brooks retired from Atlantic Coastline Railroad and he also was a farmer. Mr. Brooks was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed traveling, farming, playing piano, harmonica and the guitar.Mr. Brooks departed this life on January 5, 2013 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 28 days.He is survived by his children, Charles Brooks, Jr., Sylvia Brooks, Gary Brooks, Judy Brooks Edwards and Elaine Brooks Brown, all of Savannah, Tennessee and Bonnie Brooks Cross of Colonial Beach, Virginia12 grandchildren, Melanie Richardson, Anna Brooks, Cindy Zeigler, Shawn Brooks, Shawna Brooks, Ben Edwards, Jr., Tammy Stricklin, Nancy Lockridge, Doug Brown, Jr., Michael Brown, Michele Carter and Christina Gonzales25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildrenIn addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Brooks was also preceded in death by three brothers, Odel Lynn Brooks, Cola Lynn Brooks and Bud Lynn Brooks and two sisters, Myrtis Lynn Brooks and Claudine Brooks.
