Polly Moore

March 2, 1923 — October 28, 2008

Polly Plunk Moore was born March 2, 1923 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late John Calvin and Maude Waggoner Plunk.



She was united in marriage to George "Bud" Moore on June 28, 1943. Mr. Moore preceded her in death on December 19, 1994.



Mrs. Moore was retired from the garment industry . She attended the Hardins Graveyard Church where she was baptized. She was a board member of the United Garment Workers of America, member of the Home Demonstration Club, and Senior Citizens Olympics. Mrs. Moore won several medals in the Olympics in racquetball, basketball, freethrow basketball, and long jump. She loved her grandkids and enjoyed their many sporting activities. She was affectionately known as the "Racquetball Granny."



Mrs. Moore departed this life on October 28, 2008 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 85 Years, 7 Months, 26 Days which happen to be her mother's birthday.She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Churchwell and Joe Dan Humphries of Adamsville, TN, Elizabeth Scott and husband Gordon of Scotts Hill, TN; four grandchildren, Anita ( NeNe Churchwell) Cottrell and husband Joel of Crump, TN, Tina L. Churchwell of Adamsville, TN, Todd Scott and wife Kim of Bath Springs, TN, Rachele Gibson and husband Josh of Trenton, TN; five great grandchildren, Chelsea and Madison Cottrell, Kealeia Scott, Clark and Ella Gibson; numerous nieces and nephews from both the Plunk and Moore families.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a sister, Ona Mae Tacker; three brothers, Laford Plunk, Russel Plunk, Meril Plunk.
