Phoebe Ruth Burkhead, age 82 of Toone, passed from this life at her home, Friday, January 18, 2013.
A native of Silerton, she was born August 27, 1930 to John William and Opha Mae Gee Wilson. She was married May 26, 1950 to Terry Edward Burkhead who passed on August 9, 2004. From 1960-1993, she was a director, head teller, cashier and assistant vice president at Merchants & Planter Bank. She attended school in Malesus, graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1950 and was a member of Toone Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in the yard, garden and on the farm.
Mrs. Burkhead is survived by her daughter Kathy King and her husband Mike of Bolivar; a grandson, Chase King of Toone; and by a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by 4 sisters, Ima Hopper, Cora Phillips, Martha Ivy and Sue Garner and a brother W. O. Wilson.
