Philip Wright

Philip Wright, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on May 22, 1957, in Savannah, TN, to Colene Floyd Wright and the late Billy Max Wright. He passed away on January 27, 2025, in Corinth, Mississippi, at the age of 67.

A proud alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University, Philip graduated in December 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, where he found camaraderie as a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

His life journey took a beautiful turn in 1982 when he met the love of his life, Kim Gooch. The two were married on June 10, 1989, and together, they built a strong and loving partnership that spanned over four decades. Their bond was a testament to friendship and devotion, leaving lasting memories for all who knew them.

Philip cherished his role as a father, showering his daughter Kailee with love from the moment she was born, even constructing her a special playhouse. He was a devoted provider who always placed his family’s needs above all else, filling their lives with joy and support.

His passions were many, including boating, camping by the river, traveling to new places, playing golf, and he always took pride in being a handyman around the house. As an avid supporter of Tennessee football, Philip often found happiness cheering for his team alongside his family. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with loved ones, creating memories that will be held dear forever.

Philip was a committed member of First Baptist Church in Selmer and worked as a territory sales manager for Continental Batteries Systems. His greatest joys in life revolved around his grandson Parker, who affectionately called him "P." Philip delighted in watching Parker's baseball games and was always eager to share every precious moment with him.

He leaves behind his wife, Kim Wright of Selmer, TN; his daughter, Kailee Murphy, and husband Kyle of Savannah, TN; his grandson, Parker Murphy of Savannah, TN; his mother, Colene Wright of Corinth, MS; two sisters, Debbie Wadsworth and husband Paul of Hernando, MS, and Brenda Park of Corinth, MS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his father, Philip was preceded in death by his grandparents, RC and Marie Floyd, Jim and Cleo Wright; brother-in-law, Tommy Park; mother-in-law, Patsy Horton; and father-in-law, Johnny Gooch.

As we remember Philip, we celebrate a life devoted to family, filled with love, laughter, and the bonds of togetherness that will remain ever-cherished.
