Peggy Henry

September 1, 1930 — July 24, 2024

Bolivar, Tennessee

Peggy Henry, a beloved member of the community, passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born on September 1, 1930, in Hardeman County, Tennessee. Peggy was a woman of many talents and passions throughout her life.

Peggy dedicated her career to the art of beauty, owning and operating a successful hair salon. Her expertise extended beyond the salon as she shared her knowledge by teaching cosmetology at Middleton High School until her well-deserved retirement.

Among Peggy's proudest accomplishments was her unwavering faith as a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing golf, spending time with her cherished family, tending to the outdoors, and actively participating in her church community. Hardeman County remained not just her home but also the place where she touched countless lives with her kindness and grace.

In loving memory, Peggy leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by those who knew and loved her dearly. She is reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Donald Eugene Henry, who died on June 2, 2000, after almost 52 years of marriage.  She is preceded in death by her father, William Floyd Leathers and mother, Mary Lorraine Harrell Leathers, as well as all of her sisters and brothers.

Peggy will be forever remembered by her surviving family: sons, Mike Henry (Jan) of Bartlett, Terry Henry (Maggie) of Bolivar, and Anthony Henry of Hornsby. Her legacy also lives on through several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will cherish the memories they shared with their beloved matriarch.

A Graveside Service to honor Peggy's life will be held on July 27, 2024, at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery in Bolivar, Tennessee. The service will begin at 11:00 AM to celebrate the remarkable journey of a woman who touched hearts wherever she went.  There will be no public visitation.

Peggy's kindness, laughter, and strength will be deeply missed but forever treasured by all who had the privilege to know her.
