Mrs. Raines passed away early Monday morning at her daughter's home in Jackson.
The wife of Herbert Otha Raines, who survives, she was a homemaker and had also worked at the Whiteville Drug Store. She was born September 20, 1929 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Roy and Emma Fletcher Bishop and lived most of her life in Whiteville. She was active in the Eastern Star, served on the Hardeman County Disaster Relief Team and loved to collect teapots. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church where she worked mostly with the pre-school children.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on September 10, 1947, survivors include a son, Marvin Raines of Whiteville; two daughters, Marsha Ann Glover of Nashville and Melisa Ann Raines of Jackson; two sisters, Wilma Neal of Haughton, La. and Jean Millironis of Palm Coast, Fla.; three brothers, Herbert Bishop of Memphis, James Ray Bishop of Selmer and Harry Douglas Bishop of Bloomington, Ill.; four grandchildren, Deanne Harper, Brian Raines, Jeremiah Raines and Patrick Glover; two step grandchildren, Mark Dellinger and Adam Williamson; five great grandchildren, Caitilyn Raines, Andrew Raines, Kelsey Glover, Jacob Harper and Jayce King; and two step great grandchildren, Anna Marie and Josie Raines. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Morris and Muriel Bishop and a brother, Gradyn Bishop.
