Jackson: Ethel Pearl Gish Griffin, age 94, died May 26, 2008, at Grace Healthcare in Franklin, TN.
She was born and reared in Oscar, KY the daughter of the late Henry and Ethel Johnson Gish. She attended schools in Oscar and took a few classes at Freed Hardeman. She was married to Warren C. Griffin in 1930. They made their home in Bandana, KY where Mr. Griffin worked at the Feed Mill. They moved to Henderson in 1946. Mrs. Griffin was supervisor of inspectors at Salant & Salant Mfg. until she began work with the Howell Family in the Florist Business. The Griffin’s bought the Business from the Howell’s and operated as Griffin Florist until they sold to the Ruth Family in 1972. She and Mr. Griffin operated a framing shop out of their home. Mrs. Griffin was secretary of Unit 13 of the F.T.D. She was a longtime member of the Freed Hardeman Associates and had served as National President and was a member of the North Jackson Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters; Glenda Griffin Johnson and husband John of Amelia Island, FL and Reba Griffin Forshey and husband Paul of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren and two sisters; Dorothy Wilson and Lounette Burdell both of Jackson, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren C. Griffin.
