Mrs. Pauline Davis Martin, age 94 of Hickory Valley, Tennessee passed away at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 28 days Wednesday morning, August 20, 2014 at the Memphis Jewish Home in Cordova.
Mrs. Martin was born in Fayette County, Tennessee June 23, 1920 to the late Frank and Ada Smalley Davis. She moved to Hardeman County in her teenage years and lived in Hickory Valley for most of her life. She graduated high school with the class of 1939 from Grand Junction High School, and on July 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Mr. J. B. Martin who preceded her in death November 8, 2008. She worked as a substitute postmaster at the Hickory Valley Post Office and as a homemaker. She was a member of the Hickory Valley Baptist Church where she taught the Lydia Sunday School class. Family was very important to her, and she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Martin and wife Donna of Centerville; daughters, Joy Deming and husband David of Ripley, and Pam Rusch of Hickory Valley; sister, Evelyn Lax of Hickory Valley; grandchildren, Cory Martin, Brett Martin, Tiffany Dyals, Rachael Middleton, Christy Ocker, Ben Deming and Jeremy Deming; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Laverne Davis, Frankie Davis, Jack Davis, Opal Fawcett, Addie Lee Clampitt, Mavis Davis, and an infant sister.
