Pauline Snelling Dunn, 89 died on Friday, Jan. 16 at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19 at Shackelford Funeral Home in Bolivar with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. A graveside service will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Rossville.
Mrs. Dunn was born Dec. 26, 1919 in Grand Junction and is preceded in death by her parents Mr. James Edward Snelling and Virdna Ray Snelling and two sisters. She married Wilson Dunn in 1940 and the couple opened Dunn’s Sporting Goods in 1952 where she worked until the company sold in the 1990s. Mrs. Dunn was an avid bird dog enthusiast and active in field trialing and campaigning dogs. The Dunns were the proud owners of the 1990 national champion, Dunn’s Fearless Bud. Mrs. Dunn was a longtime active member of Grand Junction Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and worked with the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. Mrs. Dunn was a current member of Pleasant Christian Church in Rossville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dunn leaves a sister, Lucille Snelling Parsons of Somerville; daughter Linda Jennings and husband Sam Jennings of Oxford, Miss.; daughter Nancy Chamblee and husband Rodney Chamblee of Jackson, Miss; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
