Mrs. Paulene S. McLeroy, age 84, of Bolivar, departed this life Monday, March 7, 2016 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of George William McLeroy, who died in 2009 after 59 years of marriage, she was a homemaker and had worked over 15 years at Harman Automotive. She was born June 10, 1931, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Arthur Dewey Scott and Bessie Priscilla Ervin Scott and lived most of her life in Hardeman County except for a year in Missouri. After her retirement from Harman, she worked as a sitter for the public and housecleaner. She enjoyed being outside and working word find puzzles. A 'people person', she loved sitting on her porch and waving at people and received her greatest joy from being around her family, whom she dearly loved. Mrs. McLeroy was a member of New Bethany Church of Christ and always cherished getting to attend church services.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Mayes (Ralph) of Saulsbury and Janene Hall (Tony) of Bolivar; two sons, Allan McLeroy of Bolivar and Keith McLeroy (Rhonda) of Middleton; a sister, Anita Faye Murray of Red Oak, TX; several half brothers and sisters; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony McLeroy in 2009; and a great grandchild, Elia Kay Sprague in 2013. The family requests memorial donations in Mrs. McLeroy's name be made to the New Bethany Church of Christ or Hospice of West Tennessee.
