Paul "P W" Plunk was born December 12, 1935 in Savannah, TN, the son of the late L. Fred Plunk and Zelma Pickens Plunk.
Paul graduated Savannah High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Betty Snodgrass on March 4, 1955. Mrs. Plunk preceded him in death on November 3, 2023.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, having served in Frankfurt, Germany.
He had worked for the State of TN (1955-1958), Tennessee Valley Electric Cooperative (1960-1998) and the City of Adamsville Public Works Director (2005-2019).
Paul was a Member and had served as a Deacon and an Elder of the First Christian Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. He was a member of the Adamsville Masonic Lodge 338 and IBEW local 558 in Sheffield, AL. He also served as an Adamsville City Commissioner (1992 -1997) and as the Adamsville Mayor (1997-2001).
Some of his greatest pleasures in life were his involvement in Dixie Youth Baseball for over 40 years and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons and great grandchildren. He was an avid Adamsville Cardinal sports fan and was affectionately known as "Poppa" to his grandsons and great grandchildren.
Mr. Plunk departed this life on March 3, 2024 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 2 Months, 20 Days.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Plunk of Adamsville, TN; two sons, Randy Plunk and wife Tina of Bolivar, TN, Rusty Plunk and wife Jeanette of Adamsville, TN; three grandchildren: Jake Plunk and wife Jaydin of Trenton, TN, Dalton Plunk and wife Darby of Adamsville, TN, Clint Plunk and wife Caitlin of Bolivar, TN; four great grandchildren: Paizlee Plunk of Trenton, TN, Nash Plunk of Trenton, TN, Hunter Plunk of Trenton, TN, Owen Plunk of Adamsville, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Plunk was preceded in death by his sister, Dorthy Plunk Green; four brothers: Kenneth Plunk, L. Fred Plunk Jr., Carl Wayne Plunk, Terry Lee Plunk.
