Patty Lou Smith Wright

Patty Lou Smith Wright departed this life on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the age of 76 years, 11 months, 20 days. She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 25, 1939, the daughter of the late Raymond S. and Theo Bingham Smith. On May 29, 1960, she was united in marriage to James Earl Wright, Sr., the former star quarterback of Memphis State University, who preceded her in death on February 27, 2009.

Patty lived in Shelby County, Tennessee most of her life and taught school in Shelby County at Christ Methodist Day School and Hardin County, Tennessee. She also worked in a fabric store that specialized in interior decorating. She played piano, enjoyed singing, basketball, making patchwork quilts and pillows.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Kay Wright Verona and her husband, Timothy of Atlanta, Georgia; son, James Earl Wright, Jr. and his wife, Adriana of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchild, Cameron James Verona.
