Parker M. Johnson, 75, of Bolivar died Thursday afternoon, February 23, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The husband of Vanice Bishop Johnson, who survives, he retired as a supervisor at Western Mental Health Institute after 35 years of service. Mr. Johnson was born July 23, 1930 in McNairy County, son of the late John Prentis Johnson and Essie Neal King Johnson. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and made his home in Bolivar in the 1950’s.
Services were 12:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Dennis Taylor officiating. Burial was in McCalip’s Chapel Cemetery near Selmer.
In addition to his wife, whom he married March 26, 1956, survivors include one daughter, Tammy Gammel of Bolivar; one son, James Johnson of Medina and four grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Harlie and Jameson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Crump Johnson.
