PARALEE GIBBS
was born on May 7, 1919, in Adamsville, Tennessee, to the late Charlie Marvin and Maggie Velmer Hughes Scott.
On August 12, 1939, in Corinth, Mississippi, she was united in marriage to John Elmer Gibbs, who preceded her in death in January of 1956.
Mrs. Gibbs at one time lived in Augusta, Georgia and later moved to Crump, Tennessee where she worked as an assembly line employee for Brown Shoe Company of Savannah, Tennessee. She was a member of the River Heights Pentecostal Church in Crump, Tennessee. She was a wonderful and loving mother, who loved her grandchildren and family very much. She also made the best coconut cake ever.
Mrs. Gibbs departed this life on May 14, 2013. at Savannah Health Care and Rehab Facility at the age of 94 years and 7 days.
She is survived by a son, Jerry L. Gibbs and his wife, Versie of Crump, Tennessee; grandson, Michael L. Gibbs and his wife, Heather of Adamsville, Tennessee; a step-grandson, James Barks of Corning, Arkansas and a step-granddaughter, Amanda Thurman of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; great-grandson, Nathaniel L. Gibbs and great-granddaughter, Rebekah R. Gibbs of Crump, Tennessee; 2 step-great-grandsons, Charles Barks of Corning, Arkansas and Glen Thurman of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; three sisters, Juanita Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee, Mabel Hicks and Willie Jo Hopper, both of Crump, Tennessee.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ann Gibbs, a sister, Beatrice Smith and brother, LeRoy Scott.
