P. Houston Thrasher III was born June 19, 1935 in Shelby County , Tennessee the son of the late Pugh Houston and Hazel Crawford Thrasher.
He was united in marriage to Alice McBride on May 22, 1976.
Mr. Thrasher was the grandson of the founding father of Selmer, Pugh H. Thrasher, Sr. He was owner of Thrasher Fabrics for over 20 years in Jackson and Memphis. He served McNairy County for over 20 years in the capacity of Emergency Management Director, County Executive, and director of Economic Development. He enjoyed the outdoors, had been a cattle and hay farmer since 1977, loved to fish and hunt. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy.
Mr. Thrasher departed this life on November 5, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 75 Years, 4 Months, 17 Days. He is survived by Alice Thrasher of Selmer, TN; sons, P. Houston Thrasher IV and wife Ann-Marie of McLean, VA, Dr. Barton Thrasher and wife Cristy of LaGrange, TN, Trevor Thrasher and wife Cindi of Wilmington, OH; daughters, Melissa Peeler and husband Michael of Memphis, TN, Julie Isaacs and husband James of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Eli and Ben Thrasher; Adi, Bo and Sarah Thrasher; Mary, Anna, and Margie Peeler; Miranda Thrasher and Chloe Williams; sister, Patricia Harris Reynolds and husband Jackson of Okmulgee,OK; and a large extended family who loved him.
