Ozie Lea Hazlegrove Cox, 89, of Bolivar, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at her home.
The widow of John Holland Cox, who died August 7, 2002 after 55 years of marriage, she had worked for the Hardeman County Registrar’s office and for Freuhauf Trailers. She was also employed at the Milan Arsenal and Ford Motor Company until she retired in 1976. Mrs. Cox was born May 4, 1916 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Lee Lafayette Hazlegrove and Annie Lea Marsh Hazlegrove. She graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1938 and attended the West Tennessee Business College. She lived in Memphis for 35 years before making her home here in 1978. Mrs. Cox was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bolivar and the Hardeman County Chapter of the APTA.
Graveside services were 3 PM Sunday, December 17, 2005 at Union Cemetery in Bolivar with David Cooper and Dr. Ernest E. James officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Carol Cox of Brentwood and Betty Sue Russell, and her husband, Chuck, of Memphis. She was preceded in death by two brothers, L. F. and Herbert Hazlegrove.
