Otis E. Ballard, 89, of Bolivar, died Friday, March 10, 2006 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Estell M. Collins Ballard, who survives, he retired from Western Mental Health Institute after 35 years of service as a technician. Mr. Ballard was born August 20, 1916 in Hardeman County, son of the late Eathel and Althea Naylor Ballard and lived here all of his life. His family stated that “he was a hard worker and an avid gardener who loved to dance and work on his own small enginesâ€. He attended Silerton Methodist Church.
Services were 2 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with David Cooper officiating. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Silerton.
In addition to his wife, whom he married July 19, 1936, survivors include one daughter, Jean Ballard of Bolivar; one son, Charles William Ballard of Winnfield, LA; one brother, Wade Ballard of Middleton; three grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers Tab and Edwin Ballard and one grandchild, Sherry Wiggins.
