Oscar Elmer Rinks
was born in Savannah, Tennessee on June 27, 1919 the son of the late David Oscar and Cora Bonee Rinks.
In October of 1941, he was united in marriage to the former Martha Maybelle Ward, who preceded him in death on April 4, 1992.
Mr. Rinks lived in Hardin County all of his life. He worked with Hassell’s Lumber Company for 20 years and was also a custodian at the Courthouse. He attended the Lighthouse Apostolic Church in Nixon. Mr. Rinks enjoyed walking and visiting.
He departed this life on August 13, 2006 at his residence in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 17 days.
Mr. Rinks is survived by 3 sons: Oscar Junior (Pete) Rinks of Crump, Tennessee,
James Elmer (Elrod) Rinks of Savannah, Tennessee and James Carroll Rinks of Florence, Alabama; 2 daughters: Martha Jane Barnett of Rogersville, Alabama and Shirley Ann Stanfill of Henderson, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren
and one brother, James Kenneth (Jim) Rinks of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Wayne Rinks; one grand-daughter, Carmen Maria Soria; 2 brothers: Robert Rinks and Johnny Rinks; one sister, Betty Walrond and a step-brother, Luke Price.
