Oscar Frankswas born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 12, 1933 the son of the late Neal and Ada Melson Franks.On April 15, 1954 he was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline Stricklin, who survives. Mr. Franks worked as a school bus driver, a log truck driver and as a sawmill worker. He lived in the Gillis Mills Community and was a member of Abrams Chapel Methodist Church.He departed this life on July 31, 2007 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 19 days.Mr. Franks is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Stricklin Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; a son, Larry Joe Franks and his wife, Vernice, of Savannah; a daughter, Janice Averett and her husband, Bob, of Savannah;six grandchildren: Joanie Franks and Keith Daniel, Candie Mayes and her husband, John, Amber Franks, Amanda Franks, Leigh Higgins and her husband, Brian, and Cassie Thompson;three great-grandchildren: Hunter Caperton, Tyler Mayes and David Banelli;one brother: Arthur Franks of Savannah, Tennessee;and two sisters: Etta Sherrills of Collinwood, Tennessee andEmma Jean Stricklin of Savannah, Tennessee.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Katherine Johnson, Edith Holt, Jewel Wilkerson and Mae Sherrills.
