Mr. Omer Patterson of Bolivar departed this life at the age of 88 Monday morning, January 28, 2013 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Patterson was born in Kiser, Arkansas August 25, 1924 to the late Thomas Henry "Tommie" Patterson and Lona Caroline Flannigan Patterson. On September 12, 1949, he was united in marriage to Gay Crum, who survives. He worked in the construction industry after he moved to Hardeman County in 1952. He then worked for Harmon Manufacturing, from which he retired in 1990. He was a member of Grace Apostolic Church.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, survivors include two daughters, Linda Kay Thornton and husband Rev. James of Walnut, Mississippi and Sheila Inez Holloway of Bolivar; two sons, Jimmy Dale Patterson of Burnsville, Mississippi and Omer Lee Patterson of Bolivar; seven grandchildren, Jimmy LeWayne Patterson, Steven Eugene Patterson, Jennifer Kay Thornton Wilbanks, Jessica Witt Thornton Bateman, Crystal Gail Mercer, Penny Michele Gentry and Jeremy Dewayne McCaskill; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Galie, Nellie, Mary, Mina, Marie and Hattie; and six brothers, Fred, Olvie, Melvin, John Henry, his twin, Homer, and John Riley (Jr.).
