Oma Lee Blankenship, 87, of Bolivar, died Wednesday evening, March 16,2005 at West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson, Tenn.
The widow of V. E. Blankenship, who died in November of 1976, she was a homemaker and seamstress. Mrs. Blankenship was born March 10, 1918 in Waynesboro, daughter of the late Henry and Lydia Casteel Hardin and moved to Hardeman County in the early 1960's. She loved to garden and work in her yard. Mrs. Blankenship was active in the seniors program as well as the Loaves & Fishes program at Bolivar First Baptist Church where she was a member.
Services were 11 a.m. Friday, March 18 at Shackelford's chapel in
Bolivar with Dr. Earnest E. James officiating. Burial was 3 p.m. in
Downey Cemetery near Hohenwald. Shackelford Funeral Directors of
Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Debbie
Blankenship of Hornsby; two sisters, Edith Pope of Lawrenceburg and Jean Pirchett of Lexington and one brother, Howard Hardin of La Mesa, Calif.
