Ola Heathcoat departed this life on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the age of 81 years and 14 days. She was born in Florence, Alabama on January 15, 1935, the daughter of the late Jesse and Dewey Woods Ezekiel. In 1970, she was united in marriage to Thomas Heathcoat, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2000.
Ola had worked as a clerk for Whorton's Drug Store in Florence, Alabama. She had also worked in the bakery at Albertson's in Gainsville, Florida and Piggly Wiggly in Savannah, Tennessee. After retiring, she took care of children for years. She loved life, always smiling or laughing. She loved to work in her garden, canning her hot peppers, Elvis, her family, all her children, and especially her animals. Ola was a member of the Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee.
She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Davis of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amy Necklaus, Scott Davis, Charles Heathcoat, Weasley Heathcoat, Andy Heathcoat, and Amber Heathcoat; great grandchildren, Caleb Necklaus, Kori Davis, and Taylor Davis; great-great grandchildren, Havanah and Aniya Chavaria; and a sister, Elizabeth Sharp of Florence, Alabama.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Heathcoat, II; sisters, Mable White and Rebecca Brown; brothers, Robert Ezekiel, George Ezekiel, and Archie Ezekiel.
