Norman Dean Batley
was born in Winchester, Illinois on February 2, 1924 the son of the late Earl Clark and Grace Marie Iler Batley.
On October 24, 1945 he was united in marriage to the former Flossie Loveda Stinnett, who survives. Mr. Batley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a veteran of World War II.
He worked as a school teacher and engineer and retired from teaching after 32 years. Mr. Batley lived in Pleasant Hill, Illinois for 30 years and lived in Hardin County for 18 years. He was of Christian belief and enjoyed walking, reading and wood-working.
He departed this life on September 21, 2006 at Hardin County Nursing Home in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 19 days.
Mr. Batley is survived by his wife Flossie Loveda Stinnett Batley of Savannah, Tennessee; 4 daughters: Brenda Annette Eich of Washington, D.C.,
Myra Darlene Starkey of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Elicia Lee Holbert of Memphis, Tennesssee and Elaine Marie Collins of Pittsfield, Illinois; one son, Darrell Wayne Batley of Lincoln, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
one brother, Loren Evert Batley of Danville, Illinois and one sister, Iota Lucille Hammond of Oakwood, Illinois.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Harvey Angus Batley.
