NORMAN C. AUSTIN
Henderson, TN: Norman Clarence Austin, age 89 passed away Monday May 11, 2015 at his home.
He was born April 22, 1926 at Winooski, MS the son of the late John and Irene Bivens Austin. He went to school at West Corinth. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Cordie Moore Capooth in 1974. He farmed and worked at Gateway Handle Factory in Corinth until his retirement.
Mr. Austin loved to fish and bird hunt.
He is survived by His wife, Cordie Irene Moore Capooth Austin of Henderson; a son, Gary Austin of Childers Hill, TN and three stepsons, Ray Ritenour of Counce, Jerry Capooth of Middleton and Ronnie Capooth of Finger; three daughters, Eva Melton of Chewalla, TN, Wanda Kay Austin of Selmer, TN and Terri Austin of Oklahoma and twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ollie Faye Gatewood.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Scotty Capooth officiating and burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday.
