Henderson: Nina Cornell Ward Graves, age 86, died Saturday morning, November 29, 2008 in the emergency room of Jackson General Hospital.
Mrs. Graves was born at Finger, Tennessee and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late Edgar Orphus and Thedorsia Frye Ward. She attended schools at Montezuma and graduated from Chester County High School in 1940 and in June of 1940 was married to James H. (Buster) Graves. She worked at Salant and Salant in the early 40’s and they lived in many different places including; Ogden, Utah, Greensboro, NC, Vicksburg, MS, and moved back to Henderson where she and Mr. Graves owned and operated the Western Auto Store. She later also worked at the Miller and Golf Department Store. She was a member of the Estes Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 68 ½ years, James H. ‘Buster’ Graves, a son-in-law Jerry Beshires, two grandchildren Brent Beshires and wife Anita and Beth Haskins and husband Steve all of Henderson. She has five great grandchildren; Justin, Jade, and Jaron Haskins and Grant and Daniel Beshires and a great great grandchild Jacelyn Haskins.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Beshires in 2003 and by five siblings: Lila Ward, Gordon Ward, Coy Ward, Imogene Ward, and Edgar Ward, Jr.
