Nettie Verle Stricklin Waters Conner
was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on July 1, 1920 the daughter of the late Henry A. and Elmer Steele Stricklin.
On March 24, 1943, she was united in marriage to Fred A. Waters, who preceded her in death March 13, 1979. She was then united in marriage to Wallace Conner on September 10, 1981. Mr. Conner preceded her in death on May 13, 1992.
Mrs. Conner worked with Savannah Manufacturing for several years and attended the former People’s Tabernacle.
She departed this life on January 20, 2006 at Hardin County Nursing Home in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 19 days.
Mrs. Conner is survived by 2 sisters: Stella Prater of Clifton, Tennessee and Lela Bowling of Shelbyville, Tennessee;
2 step-daughters: Brenda Duncan and Betty Johnson, both of Savannah;
One step-son, Bruce Conner of Savannah;
9 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Fred A. Waters; her second husband, Wallace Conner; a daughter, Marcia Gayle Waters; 3 brothers: Hubert, J.A. and Eldred Stricklin; and a stepson, Bobby Conner.
