NETTIE THOMAS
was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on May 24, 1910 the daughter of the late Albert Fayett and Jennie Cordelia Thacker Nix.
On December 24, 1927 she was united in marriage to David Millard Thomas, who preceded her in death on June 20, 1988 at the age of 81 years.
During her life, Mrs. Thomas worked at the Golden Rule clothing store and as a cook at Morris Chapel School. She was a member of the Morris Chapel Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Thomas loved cooking for her family and the school children. She enjoyed her work at the Golden Rule and loved flowers and gardening. Mrs. Thomas loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She departed this life on March 22, 2007 at Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 96 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by two daughters: Mildred Jacqueline Thomas Alexander Brasher of Morris Chapel, Tennessee and Peggy Janet Thomas of Savannah, Tennessee;
five grandchildren: Sandra Kay Cooksey, Kathy Janette Donaldson,
Barbara Susan Waddell, Vickie Thomas, and Melissa Coffman;
seven great-grandchildren: Tina Cooksey, Stephanie McCullough,
Deanne Brown, Stacy Donaldson, Jessica Shelby, Jonathan Cooksey and
Zachary Shelby
and one sister, Mabel Kiihnl of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons: Albert Franklin Thomas, Richard Cordie Thomas and Gerald Ray Thomas; one great-grandchild, Melody Shelby; one brother, Richard Nix and
three sisters: Josie Nixon, Minnie Montgomery and Edith Wilson.
