Nelson Wayne Rickman, born on August 5, 1949, in Selmer, Tennessee, was the beloved son of the late Raymond and Shirley Tedford Rickman. He was united in marriage to Patricia Brown on June 19, 1970, and they shared many cherished years together.
Throughout his life, Nelson exemplified hard work and dedication. He worked as a sewing machine mechanic, worked at Standard Lumber Company, and was a licensed contractor. Notably, he served as a Star Route Carrier with the postal service for 32 years and spent 12 years as a building and trades instructor at McNairy Central High School, where he positively impacted many students' lives.
Nelson had a passion for gardening and building, and he found immense joy in spending time with his family. He was particularly proud of watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he served faithfully as a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Corinth.
Mr. Rickman departed this life on December 2, 2024, in Selmer, Tennessee, at the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 27 days. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Rickman of Selmer, TN; a son, Chad Rickman and his wife Laura of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Beth Baker and her husband Bradley of New Albany, MS; two sisters, Brenda Cosby and her husband Jimmy of Selmer, TN, and Jana Shelby and her husband Kevin of Savannah, TN; a brother, Larry Rickman, and his wife Barbara of Byhalia, MS; a sister-in-law, Martha Rickman of Selmer, TN; six grandchildren, Sidney Rickman of Selmer, TN, Braden Rickman and Anabelle of Selmer, TN, Kailey Baker Good and her husband Zach of Cartersville, GA, Trey Rickman of Selmer, TN, Lainey Baker of Cartersville, GA, Case Rickman of Selmer, TN; a great-granddaughter, Maeve Rickman; along with a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rickman was preceded in death by his brother, Neal Rickman.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Legacy Hospice for their support and compassion during Nelson's last few months.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
