Nellie R. Smith

Nellie R. Smith was born May 15, 1914 in Cullman, Alabama the daughter of the late James Barry and Bethany Watts Rodgers. She was united in marriage to Joel Smith on December 31, 1930. After 57 years of marriage, Mr. Smith preceded her in death on March 28, 1988. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and was a member of the Nazarene Church.She also enjoyed volunteer work as a Pink Lady at McNairy County General Hospital.Mrs. Smith departed this life on May 2, 2007 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 92 Years, 11 Months, 17 Days. She is survived by four daughters: Marjorie White of Byhalia, Mississippi, Naomi Armour and husband Dolphus of Selmer, Tennessee, Jimmie Faye Stribling and Shirley Lane and husband L. T., all of Memphis, Tennessee; 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 23 Great Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Great Grandchild.In addition to her parents and spouse, Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by a son, James Robert Smith, who was killed in action in Korea.
