Nellie Virginia Robertson Smith

Nellie Virginia Robertson Smith was born September 5, 1934 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Elbert and Minnie Robertson.

On October 10, 1953, she married the love of her life, Robert Smith. The young couple moved to Illinois to start their life together. They were blessed with three children: Denny, Dorothy and Janell. While living in Illinois, Mrs. Smith worked at Del Monte Cannery and Freeman Shoe Corporation. In 1968, they moved their family back to Tennessee where she lived until her death.

Mrs. Smith's greatest joy in life was her family. She loved hearing her grandchildren say, "Hey Mamaw."

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Minnie Robertson; husband of 36 years, Robert Smith; mother-in-law, Icey Dunn; daughter, Janell Smith Foust; two brothers, Art and Ray Robertson; two sisters, Helen Meier, Sandra Wilton, along with two infant siblings.

She is survived by her son, Denny Smith of Ramer, TN; a daughter, Dorothy (Dot) Switcher and husband Kim of Ramer, TN; grandchildren, Julia and Cheyne Smith and their children, Harlee Cait and Tucker all of Henderson, TN, Drew Smith and his children Juston and Jaxon all of Conroe, TX, Christopher Smith of Ramer, TN, Sarah James and husband Cody and their children, Ashley, Ashton, Noah, Spencer, Kaylyn and Madison all of Selmer, TN, Brandon Foust and wife April and their children, Brandon Jr and Anna all of Selmer, TN; a host of extended family and friends including her siblings, Marlon Robertson of Elizabeth, IL, Alice Murphy, Brenda Williams and husband Gary, very special great niece, Melanie Wilton all of Rochelle, IL.
