Nell English Polk
was born December 25, 1930 in Hardin County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Lewis Harley and Cora Delia Umphrey English.
She was united in marriage to Holly Farris Polk on December 20, 1947. Mr. Polk preceded her in death on November 10, 1995.
Mrs. Polk was a supervisor at Savannah Manufacturing before retiring. She had also worked at Garan Manufacturing and Weber Button Manufacturing. She was a member of the Banner Ministry and a Sunday School Teacher at Northside Baptist Church. In addition to Hardin County, Mrs. Polk had lived in the Hinkle Community, Crossroads, and Hickory Flatt, Tennessee. Mrs. Polk was known as a caregiver and a prayer warrior. She enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, and flower gardening.
Mrs. Polk departed this life on May 3, 2008 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 77 Years, 4 Months, 8 Days.
She is survived by two sons, James Howard Polk and his wife Nancy of Savannah, Tennessee, Robert (Bobby) Farris Polk and his wife Julie of Birmingham, Alabama; two brothers, Doty English of Athens, Alabama, L.H. (Lewis Harley) English, Jr. of Savannah, Tennessee; four sisters, Frankie Harrison of Savannah, Tennessee, Edith Walker of Clifton, Tennessee, Kate Hosea of Savannah, Tennessee, Rachel Wyatt of Scotts Hill, Tennessee; five grandchildren, John Farris Polk, Christopher Ryan Polk, Catherine Holly Hare, Molly Elizabeth Polk, Rebecca Claire Polk; two great grandchildren, Jaxon Polk, Ramsey Hare.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Polk was preceded in death by two brothers, Oty English and Orlando English.
